What is Good, Clean, Quality Water?

-contribution by Rodney Stephenson

– Part 2

Bottle of Water

There are several factors that we deem important in determining quality of water. We feel that purity, alkalinity, and ionization (reduction potential) are the most important factors when determining the overall quality of a water.

Purification

Think of your body as a fish tank. Think of the importance of maintaining the integrity of the internal fluids of the human body that we ‘swim’ in daily.

“The most important thing you must learn is to hydrate the body with alkalizing water.”

With over 100,000 chemicals in use throughout our industrial world, there are many things that can pollute our waters. While they may help neutralize some harmful bacteria, our muncipal water treatment plants do not give us quality water. There is a wealth of information on how chemicals found in tap water cause great harm to the human body. For example, while fluoride may indeed help with tooth decay, it may cause a host of other problems and is even banned as an additive to water sources in some countries. Also, the same chlorine derivatives that are used to kill bacteria in the municipal city water, are also well-documented carcinogens. But is purification the best option?

There are many different methods of purification available such as charcoal, reverse osmosis, distillers, ultraviolet, backflush, PiWater, magenetic, vortex, chemical additives, and ionization. For the sake of drinking clean water, one should at least explore these different methods of purification. To have good discernment of quality, one must understand more about how they work and which ones will provide the most nourishing water for the human body. Purified water is almost always preferred over drinking tap water in the United States. For those on well-water, even the ground-water in most areas of the US are now found to have a large number of contaminates.

Alkalinity

Alkalinity is another big factor when it comes to health, and especially to water. The most important thing you must learn is to hydrate the body with alkalizing water. Like the earth on which we live, our bodies are 70% water. Food cravings are often the body’s cry for water. A thirst for water will begin as one begins to hydrate with water. Beginning in the 1930s scientists started contributing to a growing body of research that a major contributing factor to a vast majority of adverse health conditions is an over-acidity in the body. The typical American Diet is full of processed foods and acidic beverages such as energy drinks and soda.

“A major contributing factor to a vast majority of adverse health conditions is an over-acidity in the body.”

A diet high in acid foods such as meat, dairy grains, high sugar fruits and bread, causes acid wastes to build up in the body. When acid wastes enter our blood stream, the blood system will attempt to dispose of these wastes in liquid form through the lungs or the kidneys. If there are too many wastes to handle, they are deposited in various organ systems like the heart, pancreas, liver, colon, and other locations.

The breakdown of this disposal process of acid waste could also be called “the aging process”. To slow down and reverse this process, one must begin by removing this over-acidification of the blood and tissues by including liberal amounts of alkaline water in the diet. Alkaline water has a pH between 9 and 11, and will neutralize harmful stored acid wastes and gently remove them from the tissues.

Connecting the dots, the problem with many waters that are purified or distilled, is that they leave the water very acidic, causing the body to foster disease even though they are pure or clean of most toxins.

Check out the books Alkalize or Die by Dr. Theodore Baroody (which I just learned is a native of Sanford, NC), PH Miracle by Dr. Robert Young, and Reverse Aging, by Sang Whang for more details on the relationship between acidification and disease, and alkalinity and health.

Ionization

The final quality that warrants attention is ionization or reduction potential of water. Ionized water is like a powerful antioxidant for the cells of the human body. Ionized water is alkaline by its nature, and it is 6 times more hydrating than other water. In a few places in the world you can still enjoy, in nature, the health benefits of clean, safe, ionized water. Now, we have alkaline water ionizers that bring this lost source to your kitchen sink.

Ok, so now that you know what good, clean, healthy water is – what next? Well, we’ll tell you in our next blog article about some good solutions for finding the best water for your health. Stay tuned!

Clean Water, Hydration & Your Health

– Part I

Bottle of Water

NOTHING can replace the necessity of nature’s most abundant resource – WATER

We live in a world where it is easier and cheaper to drink sugar loaded, caffeine-laden beverages than it is to get a good drink of pure water. Water can also be a confusing health topic these days. With all of the bottled water companies and purification systems available in the marketplace, we’ll set out to clarify, based upon our research – ‘What is truly the best water to drink?’ While there are many aspects of health dealing with water, we will cover some components you may not be familiar with. In this first part, we’d like to list. . .

Some eye-opening facts about water & your health:

    • It is estimated that at least 75% of Americans are dehydrated to such a degree that it affects their health in a negative way. For many people the body’s need from more water is misunderstood as hunger pains.

    • The catch is that virtually everyone in the U.S. has one or more toxic chemicals lodged in fatty tissue from drinking treated tap water.

    • the U.S., 53 million Americans drink water from municipal water supplies containing potentially dangerous levels of chloro- and fluoro-chemicals, lead, fecal bacteria, as well as pesticides and other impurities associated with cancer and metabolic dysfunction.

    • Your body consists mainly of water (on average about 70%). Your liver, for example, is about 90% water, brain 85%, blood 83% and even the bones 35%.

    • In a University of Washington study, drinking one glass of water when feeling hungry stopped the hunger pangs in 98% of the dieters surveyed.

    • The main cause of daytime fatigue is simply a lack of water.

    • Research shows that about 8-10 glasses of water a day may significantly ease back pain and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

    • If the average person drank at least 5 glasses of water a day (plain water not mixed) the risk of getting many degerative diseases is decreased dramatically.

    • A person’s minimal water requirements is half their body weight in ounces. For instance, a 200 pound person should drink at least 100 ounces of water.

    • Only a 2% drop in the amount of water in your water can bring on mental confusion such as short-term memory loss, being unable to focus and forgetting how to do simple math calculations.

Ok, so based upon the above stats, answer this important question . . .

Are you drinking enough water?

Now that you know how important water is for your health, stay tuned. In our next blog article, we’ll discuss what CLEAN water actually is.
