Swine Flu ‘Pandemic’ : A Real Threat, or A Real Hoax?

Many of us have been hearing about and talking about the Swine Flu ‘Pandemic’ over the past few months. Is it a real threat or is it merely a hoax?

The media has scared us all quite a bit, but do you know even one person who has died from this Swine Flu?

Consider this; every winter over 36,000 people die of the regular ‘winter flu’ in the U.S.alone. Currently, only 144 deaths have been recorded from the ‘Swine flu’ world-wide. The fear-mongers are out in mass on this one though. You would think that those numbers are clearly reversed, and even worse.

History often repeats itself: In this 1979 episode of 60 Minutes below, Mike Wallace talks to President Ford and others about the Swine Flu vaccine of 1976. Note the admitted lack of safety and informed consent, even as TV ads frightened American citizens into getting a shot. Do you think anything has changed today?

Lies can take us captive even with our health. Do you trust the current U.S. government, CDC, or WHO? Is it pure science or pure politics? You have to look to the heart of the matter. HUGE pharmaceutical profit gains will be seen through this if vaccinations are given.

There will not be much time before the vaccinations are mandatory in schools. By many accounts, it looks like it could be required by the fall of 2009…see Fall swine flu: Obama urges vigilance, not panic. Parents will have to take clear and intentional steps of action to keep their children from receiving this potentially pathogenic vaccination. In many states, parents may have to cite ‘religous reasons’ or other ‘cultural reasons’ for their child to be exempt from receiving this vaccination. Please see the website of the National Vaccine Information Center for more information. As in 1976, people may experience more health risks from the vaccination than from the actual Swine Flu.

To lighten the mood a little, but to clearly make our point, take a look at this clip. . .

In my next posting, I will share 4 simple steps to boost your immune system, health, and protect yourself from any type of Flu, including the Swine Flu.

Feel empowered, not hopeless.

Deciphering Food Labels: No Degree Required

Reading a food ingredients label - personal training at Transformation in Raleigh

As we walk down the aisles of the grocery store today we are bombarded with brightly colored packages that advertise thirty percent less fat, no high fructose corn syrup and zero grams of trans fat. Nowadays even Girl Scout cookies advertise zero grams of trans fat. That makes them healthy, right? WRONG! There are certain buzz words that the media has conditioned the average consumer to try to avoid, such as high fructose syrup, trans fat, saturated fat and MSG. But not having these additives in your foods doesn’t necessarily make them healthy. Sometimes it feels like you need a degree in nutrition to truly eat healthy.

Here are a few quick and simple tips to help you decide what to buy:

  1. Don’t get caught up with the bright advertisements on the front of the package. Manufacturers have a way of highlighting the positive aspects of their product and hiding the negative things when designing their packaging. Instead of focusing on the front of the package, turn it over and look at the list of ingredients and nutrition information.
  2. When looking at the list of ingredients you don’t need to be an expert. If you see a list of ingredients that is longer than your weekly grocery list, it’s probably best to put it back on the shelf. Next, actually read the list of ingredients. If there are more than a couple of ingredients that you do not recognize and can’t pronounce, put it back and step away!
  3. It is also important to look at the nutrition information. The top half of the chart lists calories, fat, sodium and other things you generally want to see low percentages of. The bottom half of the chart lists fiber, protein, vitamins and minerals; things you want to see a lot of.

These are just a few guidelines to help with your next trip to the grocery store. In my next post I will go over specific additives to avoid and why.
